GREAT SPEAKERS, BIG STUDENT AUDIENCE

 

Over 70 students from South Florida colleges and universities jammed studio C at the University of Miami’s Wolfson School of Communication to have a dialog with the above television industry professionals:  (L – R)Brian Forti, Partner in Forti-Layne Entertainment, Miami, Dave Game, Executive Producer for Digital Media/Internet, WFOR-TV/CBS4, Freddy Hernandez, Animator, WPLG-TV Local 10, Tammy Darling, Director, WSVN-TV/7, Michael Williams, Anchor/Reporter, NBC6/WTVJ, Marilu Lozada, Coordinating Producer, WPBT/2, Claudio Muns, Producer/Cinematographer, WLTV/Univision 23, Jorge Carballo, General Sales Manager, WSCV-TV/Telemundo 51 and Rich Engberg, Vice President & General Manager, WBZL-TV, Hollywood.

 

Each speaker spoke briefly about his or her career path, offering advice to the students based on real-life experience.  All stressed passion for the work.  A recurring theme was that to succeed in this business, newcomers must give 100%.  After all had spoken, they broke up into individual spots throughout the studio and the students had a chance to talk one-on-one with their favorite television professional, a few of whom were actually offering job opportunities.
